Internet Protocol TV (or IPTV) is already exploding around the world as we speak. In short, it provides the means to deliver Pay-TV via a managed network, allowing satellite or cable operators to gain interactivity opens from a back-channel, and more importantly, provide a triple play platform for consumers. IPTV is of huge interest to telcos who lay the actual physical network (fiber optic cable) as it gives them the Triple Play advantage. But broadcasters can easily partner up with them too as telcos really don’t have content experience.
The typical Triple Play offering is: broadband internet, TV and VoIP (voice over IP).
